METAL

Our handcrafted metal collections are made primarily from iron and aluminium, with the material selected according to the shape, weight and finish required for each design.

Iron is used across a range of our candlesticks, mirrors, clocks and homeware. Its strength and workability make it particularly well suited to hand-forged designs, where the metal can be shaped and worked individually by skilled craftspeople.

Aluminium is used for many of our cast products, including decorative accessories, clocks and mirrors. It can be poured into moulds to create detailed and sculptural forms while remaining relatively lightweight.

Our iron products are hand-forged by skilled artisans in India using traditional metalworking techniques.

The iron is worked and shaped by hand to create the form of each individual product. Depending on the design, the metal may be hammered, bent and shaped to create curves, edges, decorative details and surface texture.

Once the main form has been created, the surface is refined and finished by hand. Different products are given different decorative finishes, including dark iron, gold-toned, antique brass and other aged metallic effects.

Because each piece is forged and finished individually, subtle differences in shape, dimensions, texture and finish should be expected. Small hammer marks and gentle irregularities can remain visible and are part of the handcrafted character of the product.

Our aluminium products are hand-cast using a traditional sand-casting process.

The aluminium is heated until molten before being carefully poured into a mould made from sand. The mould creates the shape of the finished design, allowing the liquid metal to flow into its contours and details.

Once the aluminium has cooled and solidified, the casting is removed from the mould. The surface can then be cleaned, refined and finished by hand.

Depending on the design, a decorative finish is then applied to create the final colour and appearance of the product. Across our collection this can include antique brass, bronze, silver and other metallic finishes.

Because the pieces are individually cast and hand-finished, subtle differences in surface texture, definition, colour and shape can occur from one product to another.

Our metal products are handcrafted, so subtle differences from one piece to another are completely normal.

Hand-forged iron can show small variations in shape, dimensions and surface texture because each piece is individually formed. Gentle undulations, hammer marks and slight differences in outline are characteristic of the traditional forging process.

Hand-cast aluminium can also display small differences in texture, casting detail and surface appearance. Slight irregularities may remain where the metal has taken the shape and texture of the mould.

As our metallic finishes are applied and completed by hand, colour and tone can also vary slightly between individual pieces and different production batches. Antique and aged finishes in particular are not intended to look completely uniform.

These differences are part of the handcrafted nature of the product rather than faults.

Significant damage, structural breaks or instability are not considered part of this natural variation.

For everyday care, remove dust using a soft, dry cloth.

Avoid abrasive cloths, scouring pads, metal polish and strong chemical cleaning products, as these can scratch the surface or alter painted, antiqued and hand-applied finishes.

Our decorative metal products are not dishwasher safe and should not be soaked or submerged in water. If the surface becomes wet, dry it promptly using a soft cloth.

Iron products should be kept away from prolonged moisture and damp conditions, as moisture can encourage surface rust.

Take care when moving or storing metal products to avoid scraping, chipping or knocking the surface, particularly where a decorative finish has been applied.

For candle holders and tea-light holders, always allow the metal to cool completely before handling or cleaning.

Keeping the surface clean, dry and protected from abrasive cleaning products will help preserve the appearance and finish of your metal product.
